I live in a very rural area of Nova Scotia where you have to travel to meet with other artists, or see art. When the inspiration lags, then the challenge is to keep working. Years ago, I met an older artist whose work really moved me. Dan Rice. He spent some talking to me, a young student, about this struggle. He said it was important to paint every day. Prepare many small canvases and just paint whatever was there, at least four hours a day. He assured me inspiration will find you if you spend the time pushing paint around on the canvas. I am finding only now, many years later, he was right.
So here are my (almost) daily paintings....
